JottNote Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 22, 2026
JottNote stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal
information.
1. What Data JottNote Stores
All user-created content is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API
(chrome.storage.local). This includes:
- Notes and their content
- Bookmarks and tags
- Saved sessions (tab groups)
- Templates and placeholders
- Automatic backups of notes
- Your settings and preferences
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
JottNote does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or activity
- Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
3. Third-Party Services
Some optional features fetch data from external services. These requests are made only at the
moment you use that specific feature, and they contain only what you typed. No account
identifier, note content, or tracking identifier is ever included, and JottNote does not log
or retain these requests.
- ExchangeRate-API (exchangerate-api.com)
— Current fiat currency rates for Math Mode. The request contains no user data.
- CoinGecko (coingecko.com)
— Cryptocurrency prices for Math Mode. The request contains no user data.
- Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com)
— Weather forecasts, and converting a city name you type into coordinates. The
request contains the city name or coordinates only.
- GeoJS (geojs.io) — Used only
when you run Weather Mode without naming a city. In that case your device's IP
address is sent to GeoJS so it can return your approximate city, which is used to fetch
the forecast. Your IP is not stored by JottNote and is not sent anywhere else. To avoid
this entirely, type a city name (for example
weather then Paris).
- Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev)
— Definitions and synonyms for Dictionary and Thesaurus modes. The request contains
only the single word you looked up.
- ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com)
— Handles the optional one-time Pro upgrade. ExtensionPay may collect payment
information (such as your email and payment method) when you choose to upgrade. See
ExtensionPay's Privacy Policy for details.
If you never upgrade, JottNote makes no payment-related requests on your behalf.
If you never use Math, Weather, Dictionary or Thesaurus modes and never upgrade to Pro,
JottNote makes no network requests at all.

You can delete any or all of your data at any time:
- Delete individual notes, bookmarks, or sessions from within JottNote.

7. Children's Privacy
